Teachers and Assistants
God’s plan has always been intimate, ongoing “dwelling among men.” At its core is a relationship both constant and personal–beyond the bounds of time, form or ritual, with the very God who made, redeems and sustains all things in this vast universe of complexity and beauty. These three (time, form and ritual) are given to us now as assistants and teachers, as we find ourselves in the valley between partial experience (the deposit of the Spirit–2 Co. 1:22;5:5; Eph. 1:14) and full engagement in the restoration of the plan. Because we see darkly now, it can become the temptation to trade out relationship for ritual. Don’t trade down. Don’t let teachers and assistants become judges and tyrants.
